I have decided what I want to do for free subscribers going forward. I am going to these track roundups where I share a few tracks that I've been really vibing with recently. I don’t have a particular frequency for these posts, I want to do them whenever I have enough tracks I want to talk about.
So here we go!
Glass Animals - Heat Waves
Real talk, I’m getting sick of the winter weather here recently. It’s March and there is still snow on the ground! There was snowfall yesterday! Enough, I say, give me some spring vibes before we get into the obnoxious heat waves of summer! This track has a catchy hook and melody that makes me think of warm (but not hot) summer days, just the kind of weather I’m craving right now.
Tiësto & Ava Max - The Motto
This one is just a club banger. I am not a party animal normally but the two years of the pandemic has me yearning for a dance party like a person who has been going to dance clubs all their life.
Drop a few bills then pop a few champagne bottles
Throwin’ that money like you just won the lotto
I’ve never had champagne but hey popping bottles is getting increasingly appealing as a concept to me right now.
Tessa Violet - YES MOM
Tessa gives us an extremely self-confident banger of a single and I’m 100% here for it.
When I take my picture, wanna kiss her, I'm like "damn" (Damn)
I see my reflection, got affection 'cause I can
I can't help that I feel myself, yes, I guess I'm a fan
When everything you're looking for is right here where I stand, yeah
This is the mood I want to be in like all the time. Aspirational vibes on this one.
FKA twigs & The Weeknd - tears in the club
I think I messed up my Spotify Discover Weekly playlist by listening to a bunch of lo-fi/house/ambient beats while I do my weekly reading so this past week’s playlist was a bunch of that stuff and then…this single off of FKA twigs new album CAPRISONGS. Talk about finding a gem in a heap of forgettable ambient. Spotify: more like this and less of the ambient house beats, thank you.
If The Motto is the club party banger then this is the afterparty sad comedown vibes (is that actually a thing?). FKA’s ethereal vocals just float on the beat and The Weeknd comes in for a bit does his thing. This has been on repeat for me all week.
Dustin Lynch & MacKenzie Porter - Thinking ‘Bout You
This particular American pop country track has been stuck in my brain like the earworm it is ever since I heard it on an episode of Switched on Pop. I’ve been playing this on repeat, its a simple track and the lyrics aren’t anything to write home about but sometimes all you need is some corniness in your lyrics.
I was just thinkin' 'bout that weekend out on Cumberland Lake
And that one time in Baton Rouge when we made out in the rain
Where we went chasin' fallin' stars on a hill at your daddy's farm
Don't be sorry for callin' me up out of the blue
I was just thinkin' 'bout you
Oh, I was just thinkin' 'bout you
Straight out of a romcom movie but y’know what? I would love to make out with someone in the rain right about now. The Baton Rouge part is optional. 🥺
Megan Thee Stallion & Dua Lipa - Sweetest Pie
This particular track dropped yesterday and as soon as I listened to it I knew this is going straight to the top of the charts. This is the fusion of two incredibly talented pop artists that I didn’t know I needed until I heard it. It’s got it call, a catchy hook from Dua and the horny as fuck verses from Megan.
[Verse 3: Megan Thee Stallion]
More bounce to the ounce, pick it up, put it down (Woah)
Wanna put his Nutty Buddy in my Fudge Round (Bow)
Pussy tighter than a bitch, he ain't had it like this
Toes curling like they're throwing gang signs on Crip (On Crip)
One thing about me, I ain't takin' no shit
He whipped, I know it's pissin' off his old bitch
Cesar Millan, I got his ass trained (I got his ass trained)
I gotta let a dog know who really run things (Huh, ah)
Megan straight up one of the best lyricists out there right now when it comes to horny lyrics. Ain’t even a contest.
The End
That’s it as far this track roundup is concerned. For all of y’all that use Spotify I made a handy playlist for you so you can listen to all of these in order. If you don’t use Spotify, I’m sorry but all of these tracks should be available in whatever streaming service you use!
If you enjoyed this writeup, consider sharing it with a friend, it really helps me out! For anyone considering becoming a paid subscriber, I am planning my first paid subscriber only post which I am aiming on having published by the end of this month. I have a few ideas in mind but I haven’t decided on quite what yet.
Until next time!
